About Rangga
Meet you local birding guide from North Sulawesi
I’m Rangga, a birding and wildlife guide based in Manado, North Sulawesi. I take small groups into some of Sulawesi, Halmahera and West Papua’s most rewarding forests, islands and remote landscapes, with trips built around local knowledge, careful planning and the species and places you genuinely want to experience.
I’m not here to sell you a standard package. I’d rather understand what you want to see, how you like to travel and what kind of field experience you are looking for, then help build a trip that makes sense.
Although I’m based in Manado, but my work takes me across Sulawesi, Halmahera and West Papua. That local connection matters when conditions change, when a site needs patience, or when the best information is not written in a brochure.

Some trips follow established routes. Others can be shaped around a particular species, habitat, photography goal or season. Either way, I keep the groups small and the planning realistic.

Preparing for a Birding & Wildlife Trip
Wildlife travel can be rewarding, but it is not always predictable. Road conditions, weather, forest terrain, boat schedules and wildlife behaviour can all affect a day in the field.
Before you travel, I’ll explain what to expect, what equipment is useful, how demanding the days may be and where flexibility is important. The goal is simple: no surprises that could have been discussed beforehand.
I work with local trackers, guides and trusted field contacts when they add real value to a trip. That local network helps us make better decisions in the field and keeps the experience connected to the places we visit.
Responsible Birding, Wildlife & Photography
Wildlife encounters should never come at the expense of the wildlife itself. We follow respectful field practices, avoid unnecessary disturbance and work with local people who know and care for the places we visit.
Photography is part of many of our trips, but getting the photograph is never more important than the animal, habitat or people around us.
